Dominion Diagnostics was founded in 1997 by Toxicologists and PhDs with a special interest in Addiction Medicine.

Over time, they assembled a body of professionals that embrace the opportunity to help healthcare providers deliver a higher of standard medical care.

HUMBLE BEGINNINGS

Dominion opens with a team of only five people in 1997 in Virginia. The name Dominion coming from the Virginia state motto “Old Dominion”

1997-8

RHODE ISLAND BASED

The company officially moves to Rhode Island. The original founders were Toxicologists and PhDs who discovered that the Addiction Community was underserved by laboratories. What made Dominion unique from its toxicology competitors is that from the start, Dominion sought to serve the treatment world and addiction space, which is still 80% of our business today

1998

ENTER THE PAIN MARKET

We began taking on clients in the Pain Management space and our rapid expansion meant more space was needed, so we moved to our current location

2002

PROACTIVE COMPLIANCE

Dominion Diagnostics designed a proactive Compliance Program that exceeded the recommendations contained in the Office of the Inspector General’s Compliance Program Guidance for Clinical Laboratories

2004

LCMS ADDED

Dominion launched its first LC-MS/MS assay (Fentanyl) and we retired our last GCMS test (THC)

2006

PROPRIETARY REPORTS RELEASED

Our proprietary reports, were released. SAMM™ (Scientifically Accurate Medication Monitoring) was created in 2008 to serve the pain market, and Comprehensive Analysis of Reported Drugs (CARD)™ was released in 2010 In 2009, Dominion created its Addiction Advisory Board

2008-10

EXPANSION TO BLOOD TESTING

Dominion purchased a blood/chemistry laboratory in Greensboro, North Carolina. This was to be able to better serve clients in the addiction space, where clients and patients needed routine bloodwork as part of intake and ongoing treatment

2014

INTRODUCE HRAM TESTING

The introduction of high-resolution accurate mass technology to the lab, with the addition of the 47-analyte HRAM profile. This technology was expanded in 2018 to include HRS testing

2016

CARD study RELEASED

Dominion’s CARD study is peer-reviewed and published, which proved better treatment outcomes using a combination of testing and CARD reporting

2018

BLOOD LAB MOVED IN-HOUSE

The blood laboratory was relocated to Rhode Island to improve service levels and decrease operational costs

2019

COVID TESTING IN RI

The COVID-19 pandemic hit, and Dominion was able to quickly pivot into PCR testing to support the state of Rhode Island. In a partnership with the state, Dominion was able to work with nursing homes, schools, government entities and the public to provide the new area of diagnostic testing throughout 2020, 2021 and the beginning of 2022

OUR LABORATORY OFFERINGS

URINE DRUG TESTING

We use advanced methods for urine drug testing, detecting parent drugs and their metabolites with industry-leading accuracy and low detection limits. Our tests provide reliable insights into drug use and elimination, with results delivered quickly.

ORAL FLUID TESTING

Oral fluid drug testing is a convenient alternative to urine drug testing, ideal for patients who cannot void due to renal failure or other reasons. It is also useful in situations where a restroom is not available.

URINE STI TESTING

We offer non-invasive urine testing for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) to help meet ASAM screening requirements and detect asymptomatic infections of Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Trichomoniasis, and Mycoplasma.

BLOOD TESTING

We offer routine chemistry tests, organ-specific panels, hematology, and microbiology testing. Our rapid results meet your immediate needs. We provide logistics support, phlebotomy services, and supplies to ensure specimen integrity.
